Learning Online for Free

19 Jul

Bored with sitting in a classroom? Well, then perhaps it’s time to make a little space to learn what YOU want to learn, online, in the comfort of your own home, and (best of all), for free! Yippee!

We at braingainmag.com finally decided to test out the much talked about Khan Academy online courses – (www.khanacademy.org), and are totally hooked. The site asks you to sign in with either google, facebook, or e-mail, and then lets you pick which one of the learning classes you want to take. You can choose from Math, Sciences and Economics, Humanities or Test Prep. And if you’re already on track for where you want to land up – there’s even some partner content from the Stanford School of Medicine, and from MIT.

Picking Art History as our subject of learning for the day was a no-brainer, and we got to listen to a 15 minute video introducing Art history, and why it plays such a meaningful role in the history of civilizations, and understanding, even to some small extent as to how it influences our daily lives.

After watching the video, there’s a list of videos to which we can graduate to, and there are all sorts of community questions to interact with, to get a little bit more involved in the subject.

To that end, we’re totally hooked on the Khan Academy – which proves that learning at any age (from student to parent to teacher) is always possible, and it doesn’t have to be boring! We totally recommend signing up and getting involved in a bit of the fun!

The Khan Academy is at  www.khanacademy.org. Signup is free.
