Harpreet Singh recently graduated from New Zealand’s University of Waikato with a master’s in information technology.
Why Waikato? Harpreet said the university has a “beautiful campus with modern, and innovative infrastructure. It is internationally recognised and there is immense flexibility in the course programme to choose from for the students. The students studying here are passionate about their career and with practical experience, we get enormous industry exposure during the programme.”
He added that the Master’s in information technology fit perfectly with his career aims. It helped him “gain practical knowledge through the different assignments . . . offered industry exposure through internship” and cultural exposure through the opportunity “to communicate with people from different cultures.”
International education is a major investment. What were Harpreet’s key takeaways?
Self-motivation, confidence, and cultural intelligence.
“The style of learning is self-motivating; giving the opportunity to have hands down knowledge on the assignments. Here, we have a lot more freedom while completing assignments; this has allowed me to become a better learner and find things out for myself. As a result, I’m confident to have a better approach to overcome challenges.
I embraced every aspect of studying in New Zealand but the most valuable part of my experience is the University’s cultural diversity. “
